The advancements in digital technology, through the proliferation of new media platforms, have reshaped global social culture by creating interconnected communication methods. The world can now engage in active communication on various digital platforms that use vocal and digital dashboards to instantaneously disseminate ideas, information, and cultural exchanges beyond geographical borders. News can now be spread instantaneously through multiple communication channels to various audiences. The challenge is in the implications of ethical news and credible sourcing (Walker, 2021).
The real-time access to digital platforms that technology offers has revolutionized communication and information about diverse groups is now easily accessible (Defanti, 2019). The technology available can also be used to empower individuals to use these platforms to advocate for social change and enabling activism on a global scale. Mobile technology has allowed users to create viral content and mobilize global support for various issues to raise awareness and facilitate solidarity. People can now discuss their frustrations and cultural concerns on a digital platform, and discover that there are sympathizers in other countries (Kelly, 2023). The advancements in communication through new media technology have transformed social culture globally by disseminating relevant messages and empowering social activism by using these methods to influence cultural norms.
